Welcome to my personal website !
I am Assistant Professor of Globalisation Studies and Humanitarian Action at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) where I also serve as the Director of Studies of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree in International Humanitarian Action (NOHA). My research interests broadly focus on the political economy of crises and crisis-management policies.
Building global resilience to current and future crises (be they climate induced, economic or triggered by social inequalities) implies the design of fair and equitable institutions that not only resist exogenous shocks but give a central role to citizens in the design of crisis preparedness and management policies. Since the start of my academic career, I have aimed at uncovering how such institutions can be designed. My research interests have evolved from an original focus on the role citizens – in intervening and crisis-affected countries – play in the governance of foreign crises to the analysis of how democracies can be made more resilient to domestic crises.
This website provides more information on my research projects and outputs but also sheds light on my teaching activities and societal engagement.
